Autistic 8 Year Old Cuts Her Own Hair Again

Maggie is super good at getting past outdoor locks, and sometimes she uses those super powers to defeat indoor locks too, like she did today when she got past two cabinets locks to get to a pair of scissors, among other things, to give herself, and her brand new fairy doll, a hair cut. This time, I wasn't upset, because she did a really pretty good job, didn't cut it too close to her head, and it was really easy to fix (I wasn't thrilled the last two time she did it when she cut it right up against her head and that was a bit trickier to make look okay afterwards). She wasn't super happy that I had to fix it, I think mostly because she knew this time that she'd done something she wasn't supposed to do. But I reassured her that it was okay and we made it through.
