ROMELU LUKAKU RECEIVES BEST BELGIAN PLAYER ABROAD IN 2020 AWARD FROM… ANTONIO CONTE! [SUB ENG+ITA]

A surprise and an award. The way in which he received it was unexpected, but it’s fully deserved. Romelu Lukaku has been named as the best Belgian player abroad in 2020 by the newspaper HNL. It’s a prestigious prize, especially given that big names like Courtois, De Bruyne and Hazard were all contenders. The handover of the award was carried out in a unique and surprising fashion at Appiano Gentile. After receiving video messages, Coach Antonio Conte presented the trophy.
Lukaku listened to the words of many people who have accompanied him during his football career. Dries Mertens recorded a message (“I thought I was going to win the award…” he jokingly said), as did Deschacht (“You deserve it after such a great season”) and Tielemans (“You really are a beast on the pitch, and I know that this is just the start of many more trophies in your career. I hope we can win the European Championship together”). And then, there was Lautaro Martinez (“Thank you for everything you do both on and off the pitch”). Lukaku's coaches also got involved, from the first he played under through to Martinez, the current Head Coach of the Belgian National Team. They all wanted to congratulate Romelu on this achievement.
The award itself was given to him by Antonio Conte: “I hope you win this trophy many more times, it’d mean that you’ve continued to do really well.”
Lukaku, meanwhile, had the following to say: “This is a great honour. I want to win with my team now, that’s the most important thing.”

Una sopresa e un riconoscimento. Inaspettato per le modalità, ma meritato. Romelu Lukaku ha ricevuto il premio di miglior giocatore belga che milita al di fuori del Belgio dal quotidiano HNL. Un premio prestigioso, visto che l'attaccante nerazzurro succede nell'albo d'oro a nomi di spicco come quelli di Courtois, De Bruyne e Hazard. E la consegna è avvenuta in una maniera del tutto particolare, a sorpresa appunto, ad Appiano Gentile. Un video-messaggio, poi il premio, consegnatogli direttamente da mister Antonio Conte.
Lukaku ha ricevuto i messaggi da tante persone che lo hanno accompagnato nella sua carriera calcistica. I compagni di nazionale, intanto: Dries Mertens ("Pensavo che il premio fosse per me...", ha detto scherzando), poi Deschacht ("te lo meriti, hai disputato un'ottima stagione e hai un cuore d'oro") e Tielemans ("Sei una bestia, vincerai altri premi e spero che conquisteremo assieme l'Europeo"). Poi Lautaro Martinez: "Grazie per quello che fai dentro e fuori dal campo". Gli allenatori, dal primo avuto in carriera fino al CT del Belgio Martinez. Tutti hanno voluto mandare a Romelu il proprio messaggio di congratulazioni per questo riconoscimento.
Il premio è stato consegnato da Antonio Conte: "Spero che lo vincerai ancora per tanti anni, vorrà dire che avrai fatto ancora benissimo".
Lukaku, nel ricevere il premio di HNL, ha dichiarato: "È un onore succedere a quei giocatori dai quali ho imparato così tanto. Se sono qui è anche grazie a loro. Sto bene, sia nel Belgio che nell'Inter".
