When You Should Repipe Your House
Galvanized pipes were commonly used in homes build before 1981, and they can cause a lot of problems. Because they corrode from the inside out, they may look fine on the outside – but that doesn’t mean they are. Over time the buildup of rust and sediment inside galvanized pipes can cause low water pressure, clogs, and leaks. It’s possible to replace one small section of damaged pipe, but that’s only a short-term solution and may lead to even bigger problems. The only way to fix this issue completely is to re-pipe your house with PEX piping, which are durable and can easily be installed without having to tear down walls.
