Repertoire: The IDEAL Mendelssohn Symphony Cycle

I don't think there's another great composer whose symphonic output is so routinely disparaged as are Mendelssohn's five numbered works in the genre. This is terribly unfair, and it encourages us to miss out on some really magnificent music. So here is my ideal list of great performances of all five--versions to be savored and enjoyed to the hilt.
