Lucina & Caliman's 1st Egg Hatches! 🐣 Nest Of The Golden Eagle / Wild Bucovina Association 5.13.24

Lucina has laid two eggs this season and the first one hatched today! We got our first look at the new Golden Eagle hatchling at 16:00 when Lucina got up to look at her new eaglet. Welcome to the world baby Bucovina! 🐣 Lucina looks so beautiful on her nest ♥ Yesterday she brought prey to the nest either European Rabbit or European Hare.

She gets up later in the afternoon and takes a very brief break and returns and she touches the head of her new eaglet to gently preen it. This is an exciting day for Lucina and Caliman! We should be looking at the second egg hatching in about four days. Thank you for watching!

First Egg laid 4/1/24. Second egg laid 4/5/24. Egg #1 hatches 5/13/24

The nest is located in Romania and features Lucina & Caliman. The pair of Golden Eagles are Lucina and Caliman had their first breeding season together in 2023 which produced two eggs and both hatched. The 1st eaglet accidentally died from exposure. The 2nd eaglet Alunu fledged successfully on July 19th 2023.
