Small Business Series : Local Dentist
Small Business Series Features Local Dentist.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs interviews Keven Bowdle, a general dentist in Farragut, as part of his latest video series highlighting small businesses.
During the series, the Mayor will conduct interviews with small business owners and operators, providing them the opportunity to talk about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their families and employees, and helping them share any plans they hold for the future.
A new vignette will run each week on the county and Mayor’s various social platforms.
Bowdle, who has operated his practice since 1993, was forced to lay off employees and close his doors from mid-March through early May. He also searched for loans through the Small Business Administration.
“During that time, the reopening of our business was very uncertain – we did not know what was coming down the pike,” Bowdle said.
The Mayor agreed: “Probably one of the hardest things was that everything was changing so quickly – there was a lot of confusion and uncertainty not only from the medical side of things – your actual practice – but also on the business side of things.”
Bowdle also worried that some of his patients who needed minor treatment at the time would actually face major treatment later. He said a simple cavity – if left untreated – could later require a root canal and a crown – two expensive and, often, painful procedures.
