Think Twice Before You Buy Motorcycle Gear!

The Essential Guide to Any Motorcycle Traveler - Online Course: https://rtw-adventures.com/online-course-1.html

Watch This Before You Buy Motorcycle Gear!

I usually talk for top this and the best that, but in this chapter I will tell you about the worst things I have bought thinking they would be great but they wasn't, stay with me!
Welcome back guys, nowadays, in the era of internet it’s so easy to buy everything you want from your home. Thanks to the smart phones you can do it anywhere anytime. Amazon even offers one click button. It is so easy and practical that we do it all the time and of course this leads to some not so clever deals.
Everybody make mistakes and I am not an exception! During the years I bought some nice and of course some useless things. I did it because I was thinking that it would be a good idea, but it turns to be exactly the opposite.
1. Motorcycle seat pads.
I have tried them all. Soft, hard, gel even airhoawk. The all works, but not on the way I have expect it. The worst of all was the gel pad. When I tried in the shop was so nice that I have spent 50 euro for it without even thinking and I was sure that it will help a lot, but what I found later on was exactly the opposite. After 50km I trough it away and never use it again. It could be something wrong with me, I don’t know, but without it I was able to ride 5 times more.
2. Bicycle underwear.
Well… almost every second rider will swear that the bicycle pants help, but I won’t. The touching points of the bicycle and motorcycle seats are completely different. I am not going even to discuss the discomfort this elastic stretching material created on my balls.
3. Single pole tent.
I bought one, because it was lighter and with better waterproof stats, but I missed the obvious things. The shape of the construction has some limitations.
- First it cannot be open it unless you have soft ground to stick the pools on the ground.
- It is difficult to open it when you are alone.
- Because of the triangle shape the inside space is limited.
- It is not recommended for windy areas.
So, I sold it and bought a couple tent. A bit heavier, but much better in all of the conditions I just said.
4. Two points crash bars.
I told you once about it, but I will do it again. A couple of years ago I bought crash bars for my Yamaha Tenere. Actually they were really nice design, planned to stay almost invisible and protect the radiator from side drops. They got my attention and I bought it, but when I mount it on the bike I realize that in the case of accident they will cause more damages then protection. On the top of everything the mounting plates were so fragile and on so difficult to access spot that I left it there for more than 6 months praying that I am not going to drop the bike and damage the things which I won’t if they were not there.

5. Cheap waterproof boots.
I bought a pair of waterproof boots for a good price. I am not going to say anything about the brand, but I will say that it is well know company with a good reputation here in Germany. In one of my trips I have to ride on temperature more than 40 degrees C. All day I felt that my feet are boiling. Later at the evening when I removed the boots I found out why. The company made the boots water proof by adding piece of nylon between the leather and the lining. Yes, they were waterproof, but not breathable.
The decision was simple, I cut the linings and finish the trip, but I will never do it again.
It is good to watch some reviews and recommendations, but you have to keep in mind that what is good for one could be worst for another. As you know guys, the truth is always somewhere between. The best way to learn what you really need is to travel as more as possible. Even a simple weekend trip will give you an idea what works and what not.
