Bilongo - Cotó - tres cubano

Two of Cuba’s top treseros, Cotó (Juan de la Cruz Antomarchi Padilla) and his brother Esconodio Padilla, drop in on the house band for a unique version of Bilongo (La Negra Tomasa) at Las Ruinas del Parque, Habana Vieja. The tres cubano (guitar-like instrument) being played by Cotó is Cuba's national folk instrument. Esconodio takes up the vocal and the guiro while the usual singer does the rounds with the hat. Escondio is also a luthier who makes instruments, including tres cubanos.
