The Sad Reality Of Commercial Kitchen Abuse
Most commercial kitchens are a buzzing hive of activity. You’ve got line cooks zipping by with boiling hot pans, wait staff charging through with what seems like dozens of plates in their hand, and grease, oil, food, and water flying all over the place. It’s no wonder that it takes an army to clean up the mess afterwards in a commercial kitchen.
If the kitchen environment isn’t equipped to take this abuse, it will quickly break down. Which is why it's crucial to have resilient floor and wall material in your commercial kitchen.
With your kitchen floor being your defensive line and taking the majority of the damage, it needs to be solid and strong… easily capable of handling boiling hot liquids, long-standing water pools, heavy objects falling onto it, and endless foot traffic.
And what about your walls?
In many cases, they take a similar beating as your floor. If a stove is constantly spitting oil onto the wall, it can cause grease to build up.
If you’re dishwashing station often resembles a swimming pool due to overzealous employees… you’re setting your kitchen up for potential mold damage (and attracting a nosey health inspectors attention…).
And That’s Just For Starters
With all that grease on the walls… you’re in for a nasty treat if a fire breaks out around your stove. The wall could act like conduit.
Now, to be fair, this is an unlikely scenario to happen.
But what does happen often is that, if a kitchen becomes too dirty, a health inspector might happen to pop by unannounced, see the poor state of affairs, and start poking around with a magnifying glass.
Next up are your employees.
Whether it’s about avoiding the health inspector, preventing a grease fire, or improving employee morale… creating a clean kitchen work environment is easier if you’ve got the right floor and wall material.
Having A Thick, Seamless, 100% Waterproof Material Is Critical
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” - Benjamin Franklin
This is especially true with restaurant kitchen flooring requirements. I cannot emphasize this enough, a commercial kitchen floor is a high impact environment.
The amount of abuse a commercial kitchen floor has to take… it’s probably one of the worst areas in any building… in any industry.
Which is why you need to be careful when selecting flooring material;
It's a seamless floor to remove common weaknesses from your floor.
That it’s a thick floor. A thin coat that will wear off.
Its waterproof ALL the way through the floor and not just as a top coat.
A non slip flooring for commercial kitchens without turning the floor into a pain to clean.
And finally, make sure it’s low maintenance… preferably without using a mop, as they just move dirt around for the most part.
Everlast Epoxy Floors Are Designed
To Dominate Kitchen Environments
I don’t say this just to be dramatic. Before I started Everlast Epoxy Systems, Inc… I specialized in commercial kitchen flooring installation. Most of my clients were commercial kitchens, and with the material I had at the time (tile, rubber sheet, dry epoxy, etc.), I was falling onto the same problems over and over again.
No matter how much effort I put into installing the floor perfectly (I’m a stickler for perfection), the floors would fail in a few years time… even sometimes in a matter of months.
Now, you could blame it on me, but I went above and beyond when it came to professional installation practices. Not because I have a weird sense of wanting to install a flawless floor, but because I didn’t want to come back and fix it (on my dime!).
But I kept coming back to commercial kitchens and inspecting the damaged material. The flooring material had failed.
So, I went about and designed my own product line of epoxy-based floors that include at least 4x more epoxy resin in the mixture compared to the average competitor.
This allows Everlast Epoxy floors to be flexible (not brittle and prone to breaking up in chunks like most epoxy-based floors), durable, and 100% waterproof throughout the entire thickness of the floor.
If You Want To Finally Lay Your Flooring Problems To Rest…
So what is the best commercial kitchen flooring option? All manufacturers claim to have the best option, but Everlast Epoxy can prove it. Besides being FDA approved for commercial kitchens, some of their facilities have Everlast Epoxy flooring material installed in them for many years.
We here at Everlast® Epoxy firmly believe that we have the right solution for your needs. We can confidently say this because many of our past clients have been hotels, restaurants, and big commercial kitchens, i.e. businesses that require their floors meet strict regulatory standards and kept clean at all times.
However, we understand you have many questions before making your decision. Why not give us a call at 800-708-9870 and talk to one of our friendly floor experts today?
