Test Card Classics

Orchestral and big band music from BBC Test Cards of the late 1960s and early ’70s. The emphasis here is very much on the light classical (including some gorgeous compositions by Brian Couzens, Gordon Langford and Ernest Tomlinson) with jazz and exotic travelogue themes popping up now and then. This period was both a culmination and end of an era: following the switch to longer playlist tapes in 1972, the classical element was to gradually diminish in favour of jazz and pop sounds.
