UN Charges a Head of State – Justice in the Balkans
On May 29, 1999, Slobodan Milošević, President of Serbia, was indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the United Nations Tribunal for his role in the Kosovo conflict.
He was the first sitting head of state ever charged by an international court.
