I Didn't Know That! Which Lifesaving Household Products Should You Replace?
There are some lifesaving products in your home that have a shelf-life of their own. Although fire extinguishers and smoke detectors do not come with an expiration date, Consumer Reports engineer John Galeotafiore says the items still need to be replaced every ten years. After just five years, bicycle helmets may also need to be replaced because experts say they can lose their effectiveness. Inside Edition’s Lisa Guerrero visited Kristin Pierre’s New Jersey home to see what expired products were in her house.
