Vintage 1950s-1960s : RCA COLOR Picture Tube Manufacturing (Television, vacuum tubes, CRT)
A vintage 1950's or early 1960s film showing the manufacturing process used by RCA to create the Color Television Picture tube. By 1953, RCA had developed the first complete electronic color TV system. Founded in 1919, RCA had become a major electronics company involved in the manufacture of record players, radios, televisions, computers, and a vast array of electrical components. The first major computer was the 1956 BIZMAC, followed by various other computers, such as the 301, 601, 501, the Spectra 70 line, and others. The Computer business was sold off to Sperry Univac who took control of it in 1972, when RCA chose not to compete further with IBM's 360 and 370 mainframe computer lines.
RCA also produced military products, quality audio equipment and satellite components, and created the first nationwide American radio network, the National Broadcasting Company (NBC).
RCA's success in early television made it a household name, and its quality production techniques gave it a reputation for reliability and craftsmanship. "RCA, the most trusted name in sound" was one of its marketing slogans.
RCA was acquired by General Electric in 1986, which over the next few years liquidated most of the corporation's assets. Today, "RCA" exists as a brand name only; the various RCA trademarks are currently owned by Sony Music Entertainment and Technicolor, which in turn license the brand name to several other companies, including Voxx International, Curtis International, AVC Multimedia, TCL Corporation and Express LUCK International, Ltd. for their various products.

The BIZMAC of 1956 was one of the largest computers of its time.
