Having Love in our Life Part 12: Observing the Love in Your Life

Ask yourself:
1 .How is this person useful on a material/emotional/spiritual level?
Does it feel good?
Does it feel good to my partner?
2. How do I need this person to be useful on a material/emotional/spiritual level?
Is my need realistic?
If it’s a realistic need, does the relationship offer the potential for that?
If so, do not commit to that potential, but you may work towards it.
If it’s not a realistic need, how can I healthily fulfill that need myself?
3. Is what I AM material/emotional/spiritual useful to my partner, in which case I will feel loved and appreciated by my partner for who I am.
4. Does it feel good to be and do what is material/emotional/spiritual useful to my partner.
5. Ask yourself, is all this sustainable and committable Material Love, or is it hard love, or is it charitable love?
Be honest, lying will not get you more love in your life.
If there is not much committable, sustainable love, ask yourself, “why do I want to be with this person?” Is it self-abuse, are you trying to have love with a mirror of one of your parents? Are you trying to prove something, do you just care so much for the person that you can’t let go (remember, care itself is not love, love is an action that is useful).
6. Try to observe this in respect to your partners needs, don’t assume you are correct, communicate with them about this. Remember, Only the receiver has the right to say if something is useful to them or not, if something is love to them or not.
