Dr. Daniel Sessler looks at the association between perioperative (including pre-incision, incision-to-close, ICU, and ward) hypotension and increased 30-day mortality following noncardiac surgery. Dr. Sessler characterizes postop myocardial infarctions as common, silent, and deadly, and he looks at possible interventions to prevent MIs before diving into the connection between hypotensive mean arterial pressure readings and durations with increased risk of death. Talk includes interesting findings about intraoperative tachycardia.
