Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari Clears Border Fence Land In 45 Days Amid Radical Protests In Bangladesh

The new state government in West Bengal has announced that all land required by the Border Security Force for fencing along the India and Bangladesh border will be transferred to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs within forty-five days. The previous state administration delayed the handover for a decade, providing less than eight kilometers of land despite the central government acquiring and paying for nearly one hundred and twenty-seven kilometers. The delay left feasible stretches of the longest border shared by any Indian state incomplete. According to network reporters, ninety percent of the land procurement process was already complete but stalled due to a lack of political will. The decision to expedite the fencing has triggered protests across the border, with radical Islamist organizations holding rallies in Dhaka. These groups have raised slogans, alleged attacks on minorities in India, and issued warnings regarding the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. The central and state authorities are now working together to complete the fencing project.
