Kappa – The Strange Yokai of Japan's Lakes and Rivers

The legend of the Kappa, from Japanese folklore, is about an aquatic creature, similar to a mix of human and turtle. Known for being mischievous and sometimes dangerous, the Kappa inhabits rivers and lakes, and can challenge humans to sumo wrestling or play pranks. It has a cavity in its head that holds water, the source of its strength. The legend teaches respect for nature and caution about the dangers of water.
