In this mini series of shorts we'll take a look at the latest topic I've been learning about - Destroying the King's Position.

This is where we specifically target the pawns that defend the king, the H,G & F pawns. If we remove one or more of these, the King's defence will often be significantly weakened. Since these defensive pawns are so important, it's often worth considering sacrificing to remove them if we have enough attacking pieces to follow up and win the game.

In this video we'll take a look at a position where our opponent has pushed their h pawn to h3 creating a hook for us to remove both the h and g pawns in return for a piece. This sacrifice completely opens up their king and we can follow up with a really nice queen and bishop check mate pattern.
