Flying Magazine will for the second year sponsor and host the Flying Aviation Expo along with Lift Event Management, which expertly produced the three-day event last fall. The show will again be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, this year from Oct. 15 to Oct. 17.
For those of you who had the chance to attend last year's inaugural event, you know that in most respects it was a huge success. In fact, based on responses to surveys done at the show, the biggest complaint was that attendees wanted more. The show featured a great deal of educational content, which was varied and informative. The show features a number of panel discussions among folks behind some of the most disruptive technologies in aviation, including revolutionary iPad apps, remarkably cost-effective panel mounted touch-screen avionics, paradigm-bending flight simulators and revolutionary new rules that could before long change the way that light aircraft are approved.
Cool things will continue all through the show, with dozens of sessions on iPad apps (the biggest draw), aviation weather, drone regulations, mountain-flying risk mitigation and more. Expect more and better this year. On the floor, in addition to a lot of great exhibitors, the IFR Proficiency Center, with Redbird sims, live ATC from PilotEdge, expert talks on IFR topics and meetings of the IMC Club open to anyone who cared to sit, weigh in and learn. All of it was at no additional cost to attendees.
