unpacking/review/test 3kw renoster inverter SMOKING !!!!

unpacking/review/test 3kw renoster inverter - I really liked this inverter, until it started smoking....
Someone commented this could have caused a fire from the cables, that someone is not in possession of all the facts...
Theres fuses in the inverter itself, adding more to the same cables would not have given any better protection, being inline with the same cable makes no difference which side of the metal sheet of the case they are sitting at.
theres a 200a slow blow breaker on the back of it as its the biggest i had to hand and i was expecting to exceed 200a for short durations it 'may' have tripped but i know at 225-250 level this thing takes 15-20 seconds to trip so would handle short peaks.
This wasnt to protect the inverter, it was to protect my batteries from excessive current drain.
there is no fire danger as were sat watching it in case it proves to be faulty, and as we saw, it was, also behind us is the (vans) kitchen fire extinguisher and fire blanket, and in the passenger door another fire extinguisher (one each end of the van is the safest way)
cables used to the inverter were the ones supplied by the manufacturer, so not my problem, these cables were 16mm which in open air / loose trunking will be fine for that kind of draw in bursts of a few minutes at a time, for longer use, 25mm would be better.
my jumper cables were 25mm on the 2 large batteries, so i didnt have to worry about those failing, and the other 2 batteries were linked with 10mm, but remember, distributed load, 200a to the inverter is only 50a from each battery so 10mm is fine there.
in short spurts, worse case scenario, they start to boil off the pvc and smell giving ample warning to shut down, and we would have stopped it, as you can see in the video, the wires took the strain fine and didnt get 'hot' at all, nice and warm, not hot, because they were adequately sized.
This inverter even after producing a nice amount of smoke is still functioning, what is odd is theres no visible signs of heat damage to any component, and in further testing stress testing later (with a fan blowing in the back) it failed again but in a different way, it lost RF comms to the remote and the internal LCD screen started to turn off/on, but the ''inverter'' side of it was still quite happily churning out 2kw of power (we added our own external fan) - what does not offer an explanation is why what is essentially the 5v/3v logic part of the inverter is being affected by the huge drain and localised heat, and as the mosfets are not getting above 60/70c in that time when it didnt have a fan, there like 38-40c with the fan. the smoke desnt even seem to come from the inverter circuitry, its an add on section and an add on pcb on the front panel that seems to smoke.
not having the schematic for this (yet i'm looking) I cant offer a guess, and as its now a warranty return due to the non-working fan, I cant rip the pcb out to look under it to see if thats where the issue is.
