“I actually made three versions of the arrangement but I went back to what I’m comfortable with - jazz fusion. I combined jazz with ‘classical-feel,’ orchestral harmonic scales in A minor, to hide the ‘scary’ vibe of the piece.

The instrumentation is made up of piano, electric piano, violin one, violin two, bass, and drums. The string instruments played a major role in combining and converting jazz fusion into a dark, scary vibe through its harmonic minor and chromatic scales. Violin one player one played an arco technique, violin one player two played pizzicato to depict a monstrous, ‘manananggal’ and ‘tikbalang’ vibe, which was also played with violin two player two using the spiccato technique.

Overall, this arrangement was an experimentation of both western jazz fusion and the classical/traditional vibe of Filipino folklore."
