"When love breaks down" Prefab Sprout, 1984, cover by chaucer fielder

A sublime song written by Paddy McAloon, and the first single taken from Prefab Sprout's outstanding LP "Steve McQueen". The original is quite synthesiser based, but it works well I think arranged for acoustic guitar.

Recorded at my 60th birthday celebration, at the Unicorn inn, Canterbury. I wanted to perform a song which might ring some bells, especially with my old school and university friends! We were all 18 or thereabouts when this came out in 1984, and I think songs you hear at that sort of age make an especially deep impression! We were also celebrating my amazing daughter's birthday - she herself has just turned 18!
