Hill parking is not complicated. Three of the four parks are with the steer tires turned toward the shoulder of the road.
And for uphill with a curb, remember: Up, up and away, like Superman.
Uphill with a curb is the only hill park that’s different from the other three.
With a curb, you rest the front steer tire on the curb to prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic if the parking brake or the transmission fail.
With parking up and downhill without a curb, you turn the steer tires toward the shoulder of the road so that the vehicle rolls off the road instead of out into traffic.
And if you forget which way to turn the steer tires, it’s minimal points assigned on a driver’s test, so if you can’t remember, turn the steer tires toward the curb.
