Biden Makes Africa Pitch in Angola, China's Xi Counters with Free-Trade Policy | Firstpost Africa

The rivalry between the United States and China for influence over Africa is intensifying. US President Joe Biden is visiting Angola, his term's first and only visit to sub-Saharan Africa, to counter China in Africa. Joe Biden met his Angolan counterpart Joao Lourenco and pledged lasting engagements on Africa's term. Biden also announced over $1 billion in humanitarian assistance for Africa. At the heart of Biden's visit is the Lobito Railway project which showcases major US infrastructure investments in Africa and has been projected as a counter to China's investments.
