Express Pass Test at Universal Studios | Riding the Most Popular Rides on the Busiest Day

First thing, let me say Happy New Year and I hope you had a merry Christmas. Second, I have pulled the doors and drop the top and I’m ready to go have some theme park fun at Universal Studios Orlando. We’re going to test out the Universal Express Pass.

Here’s the plan for today, I’m not just going to go around showing you the wait times and crowds at Universal Studios Orlando, I’m actually going to try to rides some rides at Universal, you see my Universal pass comes with an Express Pass option. After 4 I’m able to ride all the rides at the Universal Studios resort once using the express pass line. We’re going to see how the Universal Express pass works today.
Partial transcript: Making my way over to The Simpsons ride, it is a 55 minute wait for stand by but we’re stepping into the Universal Express Pass line at The Simpsons. So that was about a 25 minute wait using the Universal express pass, about a 30 time savings of the regular line. Do I dare do it, do I go attempt Gingotts, Escape From Gringotts, we’re here might as well give it a shot, see what it’s line. Yea, this Diagon Alley is packed. This is a line for butter beer. The stand by wait time for Escape From Gingotts is at 155 minutes. Escape From Gingotts is going to be a fail, it is a 60 minute wait even using the Universal Express Pass so we’ll go try our luck with the Mummy ride. Even though I did not go on the Escape From Gingotts ride, using the Universal Express Pass would be a big time savings, 155 minutes versus 60 minutes, but for me, who comes to Universal Studios Orlando all the time, 60 minutes is still too much time to wait. Oh my goodness the Mummy ride is 75 minutes. I have never seen it so long. I’ll ask the ride attendant how long the Universal Express Pass time wait would be. The Mummy ride attendant said the Express Pass line would be around 25 minutes. This one I think we’ll test. Okay lets find a quite spot and talk about the Mummy ride because the Universal Express Pass worked really well for it. Okay I just got off the Mummy using the Express Pass and that was the first time I’ve every been in that Express Line queue and I timed it, 15 minutes using the Universal Express Pass. So the next thing I’m interesting in riding is Rip Ride Rocket. Woo, let’s wait a second, I’m right here by the Transformers ride, let’s go check that one out before Rip Ride Rock It. The stand by line is 60 minutes for the Transformers ride. Let’s go check out the Express Pass though, actually, let me show you the stand by line, how it’s looking for the Transformers ride. Now this right here, is the Express Pass queue for the Transformers ride and the attendant said only a 25 minute wait for the Transformers ride, let’s test it out. Okay that Express Pass worked out pretty well, 19 minutes versus 60. Universal Express Pass worked for Transformers. Now let’s go check out Rip Ride Rockit. As we make our way over to Rip Ride Rocket, it has just turned 6pm so maybe the ride wait times will go down. Okay so I’m not going to try the Express Pass for the Minion Mayhem ride, but the estimate Express Pass wait time is 25 minutes versus 105 minutes for standby. Heading over to Rip Ride Rock It right now, it’s a 35 minute wait for single riders, and 65 minute for standby, we’ll go ahead and test out the Universal Express Pass on this one. Okay I just got off Rip Ride Rockit, I would guess that this ride wait was about 25-27 minutes. Still way better than waiting in standby, Express Pass is working out pretty well. Let’s head over to Islands of Adventure, I really want to ride the Hulk roller coaster at night. But we did have a good time at Universal Studios using the Express Pass. That’s the goal, Express Pass the Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster and maybe Doctor Doom too. So for the Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster, the single rider line is full, 110 minutes for standby and the Express Pass is out the door. The Hulk ride express pass is a fail, it’s estimated to be 55 minutes even with the Universal Express Pass. But I do want to get in one ride at IOA using the Express Pass, Doctor Doom, Spiderman ride, Kong ride, something. Doesn’t look like it’s going to be Spriderman ride, it 90 minutes for standby so about 45 minutes for express pass. If a hero like spiderman ride can’t get me a quick ride, let’s try a villain like Doctor Doom. Only a 15 minute wait for Doctor Doom using the Universal Express Pass. Let’s go see if we can get on the Kong ride using the Universal Express Pass. Kong is 110 minutes the rule of thumb is the express pass would be about half that. Oh yea, I have to get a shot of the Jurassic Park River Ride at night. Okay let’s go check out Hogwarts at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter #UniversalStudios #expresspass
