10-Min Diaphragm Release & Mobility Flow | Physio-Guided Breathing Retraining
Join the exclusive waitlist for early access to a special breathing resource I’ve been working on behind the scenes: https://thebreathingphysio.myflodesk.com/exclusivewaitlist
This physio-guided breathing retraining practice is designed to gently retrain your diaphragm breathing while releasing mobility through the neck, chest, and back.
When the upper chest, ribs, or neck feel tight, the diaphragm often struggles to move freely. In this session, we combine diaphragmatic breathing with simple mobility stretches to help reduce restriction, soften breath stacking, and support a smoother, more natural breathing pattern.
This is a gentle intermediate practice with soft cues that you can do sitting or lying down. If you’re a beginner, I recommend lying on your back with knees bent and placing your hands above your head or by your sides to help reduce tightness and allow the breath to move more freely.
During this session, we focus on allowing the breath to move like a wave — coordinating gentle movement with a soft, steady exhale. Instead of chasing a bigger inhale, we prioritise freeing the breathe out while opening the ribcage, chest, and upper back. Often, when mobility improves, the diaphragm can work more efficiently without force.
If you feel restricted, stuck, or notice the urge to yawn, focus on softening and lengthening the exhale, and allowing the stretches to create space. The next breath will come naturally.
