A Day Out, Lunch at 13th century Blue Bell Inn & a walk to see Snowdrops in Tattershall Carrs Wood

A Day Out, we had a lovely hot lunch at the warm historic 13th century Blue Bell Inn, known as the "Dambuster Pub" in the Dambuster county of Tattershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire. Blue Bell is now run by a village consortium and it is famous for the signatures, of the service men of World War 2 on the low ceilings. The pilots stuck a penny in the rafters before each raid, which they’d use for a drink on their return. Sadly there are many still up there, left by those who never returned. We enjoyed a cold winter`s walk in Tattershall Carrs Wood to see the beautiful carpets of snowdrops and the ancient wet alder woodland. During the Second World War this was part of Woodhall Spa and was home to the famous `617 Dambusters' squadron. (check Blue Bell website for current opening hours)
