How to Fix Your Location Targeting Settings in Google Ads
Many Google Ads campaigns waste budget because of the default location targeting settings.
By default, Google often uses “Presence or Interest,” which allows ads to show to people outside your target area who are simply interested in that location.
To tighten targeting, switch the setting to: “Presence: People in or regularly in your targeted locations.”
This helps prevent irrelevant clicks and keeps your budget focused on users actually located in the areas you want to target.

“How do you fix your location settings in Google Ads to get better results for your campaigns? Many of the Google Ad audits that I do have the same issue with their locations. By default, Google have put on a setting that they’ll show people in your targeted location that are number one in your location, that’s perfect. But also, again, by default they show your ads to people that have shown an interest in your location. Now this is very broad as it sounds. People may have been in your targeted location at some stage or they might have even been googling your location. Now you have to turn this off to get better results. This is how you do that. In your Google Ads, click on that button over there for settings. Then scroll down, you’re going to see other settings and then you eventually are going to come down to locations. Now if you see over there there’s a toggle. By default you’re going to see that that toggle is turned on for people that have an interest and people that are in your location. You have to change that. Click on that second button over there. We only want Google Ads to show that people that are in your location. Go save that. Now all your ads are only going to show to people that are in the current location. And your ad results should be improving.”
