Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Blancpain hits 181 MPH!

This race prepped Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo hit 181 MPH at the 2014 Sun Valley Road Rally. The Gallardo Super Trofeo is a track prepped Gallardo LP570-4 that competes in a race series.

In November 2013, Lamborghini ended production of the Lamborghini Gallardo, replacing it with the all new Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4. The Gallardo was produced for 10 years, is the most successful Lamborghini of all time (sales-wise) and is nearly half of Lamborghini's on the road are Gallardos. Production ended with 14,022 Gallardos.

The original Gallardo, the baby Lambo, was introduced in 2004 with the Gallardo Spyder(convertible) introduced in 2006. This Gallardo is powered by a 5.0L V10, that produces 520 HP, good for 0-60 in 4 seconds and a top speed of 195mph. These Gallardos are all AWD. Shortly thereafter, Lamborghini built the Gallardo Superleggera, a stripped down race version that replaced many bits with carbon fiber.

In 2008, Lamborghini restyled the Gallardo with the introduction of the LP560-4. The V10 was enlarged to 5.2L, output increased to 552 HP with a 0-60 time in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 202mph. Other features included direction injection, new suspension and an additional track rod on the rear axle for better steering. Once again, Lamborghini introduced a stripped down race version Gallardo, the LP570-4 Superleggera. Weight was reduced roughly 150 pounds and powered increased to 562 HP. 0-60 time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 202mph. In 2010, Lamborghini introduced a convertible Superleggera, the LP570-4 Spyder Performante. A red Spyder Performante was the last Gallardo ever built. Lamborghini continued to build new edition of the Gallardo, introducing the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni - named after legendary Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni. The LP550-2 was the first Gallardo not equipped with AWD, rather RWD. Lamborghini later introduced this RWD option on many of the remaining Gallardos. Other special edition Gallardos include the Blancpain Edition, the Bicolore, the Tricolore, the Super Trofeo Stradale, the Edizione Tecnica and the Squandra Corsa.

Technically a Gallardo, the Sesto Elemento sits on the same drivetrain and platform as the LP570 Superleggera. However, everything else is carbon fiber - the Sesto Elemento weighs just under 2200 pounds. 0-60 time on the Sesto Elemento is just 2.5 seconds.
