07/09/2018: Trump’s theater of trade: What has been left for China and EU?

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership as Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will co-chair the 20th China-EU leaders’ meeting with European leaders on July 16 in Beijing. It comes at a time when the two economies are faced with the Trump unilateralism and protectionism given Washington’s latest imposition of stiff tariffs on both. However, negotiations and WTO mechanism have failed to ease the trade tensions across the continents, will the EU work along with China on the trade turmoil? What further actions will the two take?

Duncan Freeman, a research fellow from EU-China Research Centre at College of Europe, Victor Gao from Center for China and Globalization and Einar Tangen, an economic and political affairs commentator, join the discussion.
