Quartz vs Glass | Countertop Comparison
Quartz countertops are engineered from natural quartz minerals. Slabs of quartz contain about 93% crushed quartz combined with about 7% polyester resin. These slabs feature consistent patterns, which make it easy to conceal seams. Quartz is completely non-porous and will not need to be sealed. It's also highly durable, making it ideal high traffic areas. Quartz countertops are made by a variety of popular companies, such as Caesarstone, Quantra, and Santa Margherita.
Glass countertops come in consistent and solid colors, which are ideal for modern decors. Glass does not need to be sealed, which saves slightly on maintenance time, however because glass is somewhat fragile, it's prone to chipping around edges and cracking from extreme heat produced by hot pots and pans. Additionally, glass is not ideal for large areas, as it will typically require seams.
