Algebra 1 | Simplify Radicals: Square Roots

Welcome to Mrs. Huang's Math Class!

Hola Humans! Simplifying radicals like √72 or √128 can be frustrating if you don't know your multiplication tables perfectly.

In this video, Mrs. Huang shows you how to use your calculator to find the perfect squares. We will use the calculator to break down the numbers so you can get the exact simplified answer every time.

The Strategy:
- The List: We use the calculator to quickly generate our list of Perfect Squares.
- The Division: We use the calculator to find the largest perfect square that divides into our number.
- The Answer: We write the final simplified radical (not a decimal!).

What we cover:
- How to set up your calculator to help you simplify.
- Examples: Simplifying √75, √72, and √50.
- How to check your final answer to make sure it matches the question.

💡 Teacher Tip: Even if you use a calculator, always write down the step where you break the number into two parts (e.g., √36⋅2). This ensures you get partial credit if you make a mistake later!
