Panakam & Kosambari #shorts
This refreshing jaggery drink is a traditional cooling drink and is taken along with Channa dal kosambari.
* Approx. preparation & cooking time: 20 mins
* Serves 3-4 persons

* List of ingredients (Jaggery drink/Panakam):
1. Jaggery powder - 1 large cup
2. Water - 3 glasses
3. Cardamom (Elaichi) powder - 1/4th teaspoon
4. Pepper powder - Half teaspoon
5. Dry ginger powder - Half teaspoon
6. Edible camphor (Pacha Karpooram) - 1 pinch (optional)
7. Tulsi leaves - 4 (optional)
* List of ingredients (Moong Dal Kosambari):
1. Washed and soaked moong dal (split) - Half cup (soak for 1 hour)
2. Chopped cucumber pieces - 1 small cup
3. Grated carrot - 1 small cup
4. Grated coconut - Half cup
5. Chopped coriander leaves - Half cup
6. Salt - 1/4th teaspoon
7. Finely chopped green chillies - Half
* List of ingredients (Channa dal Kosambari):
1. Washed and soaked channa dal (split) - Half cup (soak for 1 hour)
2. Chopped cucumber pieces - 1 small cup
3. Grated carrot - 1 small cup
4. Grated coconut - Half cup
5. Chopped coriander leaves - Half cup
6. Salt - 1/4th teaspoon
7. Finely chopped green chilly - Half
* Method of preparation (Jaggery Drink/Panakam):
1. Take a large vessel, add 1 large cup jaggery powder, 3 glasses water and stir well until the powder dissolves in water.
2. Sieve the jaggery water to remove any impurities. Then, add 1/4th teaspoon cardamom powder, half teaspoon each pepper powder, dry ginger powder and stir well.
3. Next, add a pinch of edible camphor, crush 4 tulsi leaves and add to the drink. Stir again and refrigerate for sometime.
4. Enjoy tasty drink on a hot summer afternoon.

1. Into a large mixing bowl, add half cup washed and soaked moong dal. Then, add 1 small cup each cucumber pieces, grated carrot and mix well.
2. Next, add half cup each grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves, finely chopped green chilly, 1/4th teaspoon salt and mix all the ingredients.
3. Enjoy fresh moong dal kosambari with a glass of refreshing jaggery drink.
