Alabama Hills to the Reward Mine | On The Trail

We take you on an off-road overland adventure through Alabama Hills up through the famous movie flat road out into Manzanar and then into the heart of darkness that is the Reward Mine.

On our journey, we ended up finding a great camp spot in Alabama Hills which allowed us to get an early start on the day and drive up into the Reward Mine.

Our route takes us through the famous movie flat road where over 400 movies have been filmed, we stay in the dirt along the 395 and cut over behind the Manzanar historical site, take a break at the abandoned Manzanar airport, then take Reward Mine road into the mountains.

After we stop briefly for some quick group dialogue we pick the Ranger as the best vehicle to drive us into the mine. We only had a chance to go 1/2 mile in, but if we had more time and a smaller rig I'm sure we could have drove all the way to the very end.
