Concrete Boat (1962)

Wroxham, Norfolk.
M/S of a young man carrying a bucket of cement taken from a mixer. High angle L/S of the hull of a half-made concrete cruiser with several men working on it. The hull is being built inside Windboats Ltd. yard. Low angle shot of the man taking the bucket of cement up a ladder resting on the side of the boat. High angle shot of another man laying cement ("a special formula called seacrete") inside the boat. Concrete boat building has been around since the First World War, thanks to a steel shortage, the method has since been perfected by "exhaustive laboratory research". C/U of the man's hands applying the cement with a trowel. Low angle shot of two men working on the boat. Closer shot of the two men at work. High angle shot of the entire boat and all the men at work. M/S of a man placing sections of wood into the bottom of the boat. M/S of another man working on the boat. C/U of a water cock inside the bottom of the boat. C/U of two metal brackets inside the boat. M/S of a man sitting in the base of the boat attaching a section of wood to the metal brackets - concrete boats are "as strong as steel (although much lighter)". M/S of a man sanding the bow of the boat. L/S of the almost completed boat - the men are working on the wooden cabins and deck. Low angle shot of a piece of wood being passed onto the boat. M/S of a man planing a part of the cabin. M/S of an older man making adjustments on a gate on the side of the boat. C/U of a varnished rail, tilt down to a porthole.
Exterior. M/S of the bow of the concrete boat ploughing through water. M/S of the concrete boat gliding along on the Norfolk Broads.
