Smoked Triple-Bypass Burger
Who else made New Year's resolutions to eat more meat??? Smoked burgers are an amazing way to prepare a burger. Once you’ve tried a smoked burger you’ll never go back.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs 80/20 Ground Chuck
- 2 lbs Bacon
- 6 Slices Cheese (I prefer Cheddar or American)
- 2 tbs Weber Gourmet Burger Seasoning
- S&P Seasoning
- 2 Fried Eggs
- Iceberg Lettuce
- Hamburger Buns
- Mayo
Tools:
- Smoker - I will be using my Traeger Century 34
Set smoker to 225 degrees F. When doing burgers, I lean towards using hickory pellets on my Traeger (or any hard wood). Pile bacon on backing sheet (makes clean up easier). Once your grill is preheated, place your patties/bacon on the grill and close the lid. Depending on the size of your patties you should smoke them for 1 hour. For this step, internal temperature of my patties should reach 125 degrees.
Next step is to sear the patties. Crank up the temperature dial to 450 degrees F.
Sear your patties for about 2 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired doneness. If you want cheeseburgers, add your cheese after the first flip. Once your patties are smoked and seared to perfection, serve them on buns with whatever condiments you like!
Step by step:
- Preheat smoker to 225 degrees F.
- Add 2 tbs Weber Gourmet Burger Seasoning to Ground Chuck. Mix lightly- do not over work your beef, shape your ground beef into 6 patties.
- Season burger patties on both sides with S&P
- Pile bacon on backing sheet (makes clean up easier)
- Place the seasoned patties/bacon on the grill and smoke for up to 1 hour or until the internal temperature of your burgers reads 125 degrees F.
- Increase the heat in your grill to at least 450 degrees F. Sear the burger patties for about 2-3 minutes on both sides. Add cheese after the first flip.
- Check the temperature of your burger patties for desired doneness.
- Remove the burger patties. Assemble your smoked burgers with any desired toppings and serve immediately.
