Making a L8 Bus, a Gr8 Bus #transit #seattle #shorts

Mayor Katie Wilson today April 22nd, announced that Seattle’s most notorious unreliable bus route, the 8 will be seeing massive improvements to increase speed and reliability in one of the most important corridors in the system.

Phase 1 begins in May with the creation of 3 blocks of eastbound bus lanes from Queen Anne N to 2nd Ave as well as extending the southbound bus lane on Queen Anne to Denny and adding a queue jump at the light on 2nd.

Phase 2 begins in August and is the real doozy! It will install 9 blocks of new business access and Transit lanes going eastbound, shifting the existing BAT lane to be curb running after Fairview, and closing the cursed Yale slip lane!

On top of the infrastructure improvements, King County Metro will also be increasing headways from 15 minutes to 12 minutes throughout most of the day starting with the fall service change, all thanks to the 2020 Seattle Transit Measure.

I don’t know about you but I am excited to finally stop avoiding the L8 and start riding the Gr8!
