In her talk, Changing Course: A Nautical Call to Action, Kristin Carelius shares a compelling anecdote from her time aboard a sailing ship with Young Friends of the Earth Norway. Kristin is an IB1 from Oslo, Norway. She is especially passionate about nature and the environment. She has been an active member of the environmental organization Nature and Youth since 2019. As a Norwegian activist, her work largely concerns the country’s oil industry, tackling narratives about the greenest, safest money-making-machine there is. In her talk, she will explore the social integration of oil in Norway, the impact fossil fuels have on the world, and how pirates tie into it all.
