Based on everything we know about the Death Note, the Shinigami, Light Yagami, Ryuzaki, Watari, Ryuk, Near AKA Nate River, Mello AKA Mihael Keehl, Kanzo Mogi, Touta Matsuda, Shuichi Aizawa, Hirokazu Ukita, and Teru Mikami, as well as the various factions such as the Kira Task Force, Special Provision for Kira, and others, there is quite simply no way that the final two episodes could have gone down the way we're told.
