The astronomers just have found a new type of galaxy that is very old, very distant, and very bright in ultraviolet light. This is somewhat an unusual combination, and so when this bright galaxy was first detected, the team of researchers who found it first thought it was a quasar. But a detailed study revealed it was actually a galaxy with some other unusual features, which contributes to its brightness: it is busy with star formation, it has almost no dust.

The second one is, According to the team led by researchers at Australian National University (ANU), the results change a few important things about our favorite red giant.

The new results also allowed the researchers to deduce the giant's radius, shaving a third off its previous girth. Based on this new figure, Betelgeuse can't be more than 700 light-years away, either.
"Our results show it's a mere 530 light-years from us – 25 percent closer than previous thought," says Molnár.

The third one is, Using telescopes from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and other organizations around the world, astronomers have spotted a rare blast of light from a star being ripped apart by a supermassive black hole. The phenomenon, known as a tidal disruption event, is the closest such flare recorded to date at just over 215 million light-years from Earth and has been studied in unprecedented detail. The research is published today in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
