Skycat Prototype

One of the earliest hybrid airship concepts, ATG’s Skycat was to be built at Cardington, famous home to the R100 and R101 rigid airships of 1930. To demonstrate the hybrid concept and capabilities, ATG constructed a scale remote control prototype, dubbed “SkyKitten.” This promotional video, edited down from its original length, features SkyKitten under testing, and predicts the full sized Skycat, shown in mockup, would be built within a short time. US DoD representatives are present for one demo, which may have something to do with ATG’s successor company being chosen to build the US Army’s LEMV years later.
