Frugal Friendly Foods: Spaghetti Dinner for Less Than $1 a Person

Do you have a lot of hungry mouths to feed? You can make a delicious frugal friendly spaghetti dinner complete with green beans and breadsticks for a family of 6 for less than $1 a person!

We purchased almost all the ingredients that we need to make spaghetti once every two weeks for an entire year at Walmart. The total was $143.98. That means that each meal totals $5.54 cents. That is less than $1 a person.

I picked up the yeast from WinCo because Walmart doesn’t carry the kind I like. This is significantly less expensive and I LOVE it. I would have preferred to purchase the flour in a 25-pound bag from Costco but it is what it is.

Quite frankly, you could save more if you purchased store brands but when we went the pasta isle was wiped out and we had to make do with what they had available. I usually shop the sales and stock up when the items are on sale. That is one of the reasons why it is so much less expensive to be a prepper. My pantry is always stocked with items that I have purchased for significantly less than the normal price.

Let’s talk about how to pack for long-term storage. You do not have to do this! If you are going to rotate through all this stuff within a year or two you should be just fine. However, if you want to extend the shelf life to 5-10 years, I’d recommend packaging the dry goods in Mylar.

I really like Wallaby bags https://bit.ly/3fmgEqD If you use the promo code PROVIDENT5 you will get $5 off. Be sure to protect the bags from rodents.

The bread mixer that I use is a Bosch Universal Mixer and I seriously LOVE it! You can find it here https://shrsl.com/3c4zv. I'm not a fan of the blender attachment but the food processor attachment works great.
