Homeowner Charged for Protecting Home From Criminals

This 22-year old was protecting him and his family from criminals with guns breaking into his home, the registered firearm owner was confronted with multiple illegal owners during the break in. The 22-year old killed one of the criminals but now is being charged with second degree murder. Why isn't there any protests or a louder outcry for this person that did everything right in the Canadian Society? How ridiculous is it becoming?
