Big State Forest Fallow Buck (And a Hectic Stuff Up)

Some days it all comes together. Some days all the prep, strategy, scouting and understanding come together in a deer hunters wet dream. This would apply to 50% of this hunting trip.. but the X factor is my mate has been working this territory for years and keeps telling me about it. One fateful rainy night I narrowly missed killing myself on a wet corner of a forestry track. The X factor is... my mates. ..who answer a desperate phone call in the evening when they'd rather be doing something else. The same mates who stick with you all night and are back the next morning to see it through. Maximum respect to Dael, Andrew, Kasey and Eloise. And respect to Blue Dog... your shoutouts coming soon brother.

To everyone else, be thankful we have these opportunities in the 21st Century, and if you want to keep them.. then please... shout it loud and proud, join a hunting organisation and sign petitions and surveys when they're on call. Its not someone else's job to save your lifestyle when it's in strife.

That being said it's an incredible feeling when someone else goes in to bat for you.
