T5 LED LAMP PIONEER KP500 and TP900│DEDICATED LIGHT for DIAL POINTER│PART 2 OF 3 VIDEOS

Hacks using T5 LED Lamp that I have developed for KP500 and TP900 Dial board shared on these series of videos are based on my own ideas:

KP500 Dial Board

1) Used of two colors (Red and Blue) T5 LED lamp for the Tape and Bluetooth play of the KP500 Dial Board .

Replaced the existing 2 colors (Green and Red) regular led with T5 LED lamp.

Re -bore the single hole for the Tape play light, to a bigger 2 adjacent/connected holes to accommodate the bigger 2 colors (Red and Blue) T5 LED Lamp.

2) Used orange/yellow T5 LED lamp for the stereo light.

Replaced the existing miniature incandescent bulb with orange/yellow T5 LED lamp.

Re -bore the hole for the stereo lamp to a bigger hole to accommodate the bigger T5 LED lamp.

3) Mask with black permanent marker the areas around the stereo light and the tape and Bluetooth including the dial front board, to reduce if not eliminate the light leaks .

4) Fabricated a Dial Pointer Light Jig, an led holder that could be attached to the shaft or center post of the dial pointer.

The jig will hold a dedicated and independent T5 LED lamp behind the dial pointer to illuminate the tip of the acrylic pointer.

Drilled hole on the dial board PCB for the jig’s power supply access to the back of the board.

5) Using a small cable tie, securely tied down all the wires to the PCB.

This is in addition to the 3 main lamps the was replaced with white or frozen blue color T5 LED, these 3 lamps are being usually replaced with different types of LED type based on availability and technician preference, I have chosen T5 LED used in vehicle dashboards, please note that I'm not claiming ownership of the idea of replacing it with T5 LED, a lot of technician are using T5 LED.
KP900 Dial Board

1) Used of three colors (2X White, 1X orange/yellow and1X red) T5 LED lamp for the track selector lights.

Re -bore all the four holes to accommodate the bigger T5 LED Lamp.

Rewired the track selector lights to a 5 LED lamp VU meter module.

The hack will turn the tape selector light into a dancing lights.

2) In addition to the 3 main light of the frequency meter that was replaced with replaced with white or frozen blue color T5 LED lamp,

I have also added a row of Blue T5 LED lamp as an alternate illumination for the frequency meter,

I used six Blue T5 LED lamp for this hack, the Blue T5 LED lamp is not bright enough.

The hack will switch color during Bluetooth play and FM radio play.

3) Used orange/yellow T5 LED lamp for the stereo light.

Replaced the existing miniature incandescent bulb with orange/yellow T5 LED lamp.

Re -bore the hole for the stereo lamp to a bigger hole to accommodate the bigger T5 LED Lamp.

4) Fabricated a Dial Pointer Light Jig, an led holder that could be attached to the shaft or center post of the dial pointer. The jig will hold a dedicated and independent T5 LED lamp behind the dial pointer to illuminate the tip of the acrylic pointer.

The Dial Pointer Light Jig for the TP900 is a 2 colors (orange and red) Dual LED lamp version.

The is wire in parallel to the White and Blue T5 LED lamps for the frequency meter.

Drilled hole on the dial board PCB for the jig’s power supply access to the back of the board.

5) Using a small cable tie, securely tied down all the wires including the VU meter for the dancing lights to the PCB.
