In The Summertime is a massively popular summer anthem. Written by Ray Dorset, the group’s lead singer using his second hand Fender Stratocaster, it became Britain’s biggest selling single in 1970 and went on to become the third-best selling single of all time.

It reached number one in the charts around the world including France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and in the UK where it spent 7 weeks at number one. It also received an NME award for best British song that year.

In 1995 Shaggy featuring Rayyon covered the song making the top 5 in the UK.
