Are YOU a Pianist?
What makes someone a musician? What's the distinction between someone who just plays notes from someone who creates what we would call art?
I'm sure the answers to this open-ended question are as numerous as the world's population, so I give my opinion here.
But ultimately I think understanding the GOAL and the WHY of music is the most important thing to consider before we learn HOW to make music, especially when it comes down to discussing matters of musicality. A solid goal provides solid motivation; a weak goal creates weak motivation that crumbles at the first hint of difficulty and opposition.
I hope that my thoughts help you think through why you play music and encourage you as well! This is just my opinion, so feel free to disagree with me and comment them down below.
