How To Stop Overthinking at the Plate | Baseball and Softball Mindset

A lot of players overthink during games. They start focusing on their mechanics, worrying about getting a hit, thinking about what spot they’re in the lineup, or stressing over what people think about them. The more internal your focus becomes, the tighter and more anxious you usually play.

Instead, try using an external focus such as focusing on the pitcher’s release point or on driving the ball off the center field wall. Focus on competing and helping your team. External goals simplify the brain and help reduce overthinking.
