Here we are in Italy - Amalfi Coast - Part 7 Rome

This is a travelogue of our 2010 vacation in the Amalfi Coast area of Italy in seven parts, showing what we did and what travel around the Amalfi Coast is like.
In Part Seven we have left the Amalfi Coast and carry on from Pompeii to conclude the trip with an evening and a full day in Rome.

Viewing the Colosseum during the late afternoon when we arrived was a good idea...it glows in the setting sun as you will see. Rome's Piazzas and the Trevi Fountain are also a delight at night. Meander a block or two from the main tourist areas to find a quiet Ristorante.
The next day we arrived at the Colosseum just before opening at 9:00AM when there was virtually no wait at all, meandered through the Palatine Hill and Forum and on to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and St. Peters in the later afternoon when it was less crowded.

This was our second visit to Rome, and we were determined to avoid tiring crowds at main attractions and enjoy a simple walk through the city. If you only have one day in Rome...this is a great way to see 'Rome in a day'.
