Once the wool is graded and sorted, each wool type is packed into bales, roughly weighing 300-350kg. Once the there is 8 tonnes of wool of the same wool grade these bales will be ready to go to auction.
A commercial lot of wool is around 8 tonnes, which works out roughly to 24 bales. Within this lot there will be approx. 3200 fleeces from multiple farmers from the same region.
